Province of St. Martin de Porres
The year of Candidacy begins with the Rite of Admission, by which the inquirer is formally received as a member of the Dominican Order. It is a more intensive formation period, twelve months in duration, focused on deepening familiarity with Dominican spirituality, the Rule and Directory, the Liturgy of the Hours, and the theological tradition of the Order.
During this year, candidates are expected to develop the habit of living according to the Rule: attending chapter meetings regularly, praying Morning and Evening Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours, praying the Rosary daily, and participating in the Eucharist as frequently as possible. At the close of the year, the candidate may petition for Temporary Promise.
