He wrote to a friend, “I left my heart on the mountain peaks and I hope to retrieve it this summer when I climb Mt. Blanc. . . I would spend whole days on the mountains admiring, in that pure atmosphere, the magnificence of God.” He and his friends loved to laugh and joke around. They loved to call themselves “the Sinister Ones.” But they also did not hesitate to share their religious inspiration and spiritual lives. Concealed beneath the rough exterior and the laughing and joking around, was the amazing life of a mystic. Love for Jesus was at the heart of everything he did.
