The Pier Giorgio Frassati Lay Dominicans are located in Birmingham, Alabama. We are a group of ordinary men and women who want to live extraordinary lives to the glory of God and by the grace and for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are mothers, dads, college students, doctors, school teachers, lawyers, and all walks of life who are Catholics and seek to discipline our lives to conform to the image of Christ by following the teachings, prayer life, and spiritual life of Saint Dominic in all we do.
Lay Dominicans are members of the Order of Preachers, better known as the Dominican order, Dominican priests, nuns, brothers and sisters also belong to the Domincan order, but live in convents or communities and make permanent vows. Lay Dominicans live in the secular world and do not take permanent vows.
Even though Lay Dominicans do not live in convents, we are in a spiritual community with one another. We do not learn to walk alone, we do not learn to pray alone, we cannot fully know the mystery of God in isolation.
The primary work of the Order: to preach the gospel for the salvation of souls.
Apostolic Endeavors Through our prayer, study, and loving and encouraging one another (community), God equips us to share the gospel, the “Good News,” of Jesus love and salvation.
The Pier Giorgio Frassati Chapter has helped to support a Catholic outreach to drug addicts, Cenacolo, as well as supporting the Dominican apostolate to promote chastity through the Angelic Warfare Confraternity.
